What a difference 14 months makes!

I'm pretty sure we haven't posted since December. Of 2014. So, yeah... A lot has happened. Here's a bit of it.

January 2015

We adopted a puppy(!!!) from Barks of Love in Orange County, CA. He was one of 6 of a litter, all with Christmasy names. He was Claus, and there was Rudy, Holly, Jolly, Stella, and Nick. They're chi-pits. Yes, that's a thing. 1/2 chihuahua, 1/2 pit bull.

His name is Fezzik, like the giant in The Princess Bride.
Claus' adoption pic. Would you just LOOK at that FACE!!!!

About a week after we got him. Already a good sitter!

Garrison and Amanda flew out for a vacation, and boy were their arms tired. ba-dum-pum.

On our drive back to TX, we stopped at the Grand Canyon.

Back in Austin. At Matt's house, Fezzik saw his first Bigfoot. They stared each other down for a few. I think Fezzik blinked first. But Bigfoot was totally poised to run away.

Playing catch-up

The adventure continues. We've been to Sedona, AZ, on a Caribbean cruise, and spent New Year's in St Petersburg, FL. I'm working on getting posts written. In the meantime, enjoy some signs that crack me up...
clockwise from top left: 1. Mt Hollywood Dr tunnel near Griffith Park in LA; 2. Reader's Oasis Books in Quartzite, AZ; 3. vending machine in a truck stop restroom; 4. beach in Morro Bay, CA; 5. General Patton Memorial Museum, Chiriaco Summit, CA; 6. LAX security.

  1. There can be only one.
  2. I can't personally attest to the nudist because it was cold the day we were there, and he saw fit to wear sweats. I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or relieved.
  3. In retrospect, I wish I'd sprung for a package of PeeWee condoms - you know, for journalistic integrity.
  4. Not counting reincarnations.
  5. Were RATTLESNAKES Patton's secret weapon in battle?
  6. Attention scavengers - don't even think about it!

fun with chupacabras and border agents

What is going on with the saguaros in AZ?
In Arizona, we saw lots of saguaro cactuses (i know, it's really cacti). It was kind of mesmerizing, watching them, and by the time i decided i needed pictures, there just weren't anymore to be seen. Andy wouldn't turn around so I was all, "fine. i'll draw one on my super cool iPad."

And then about 20 miles later there were more. Lots more.

An awful lot of them look sickly. Or maybe they've been gnawed on by chupacabras (chupacabri?) You be the judge.
